This Applied Anatomy for Yoga is part of 200 and 500 hour teacher trainings nationwide. These courses are appropriate for teachers of yoga and pilates / gyrotonics, teachers in training, serious students wishing to learn more, physical therapists and chiropractors. There will be an hour break for lunch both days.

The curriculum includes:

  • Seeing and reading bodies
  • Muscular anatomy as applied to yoga postures
  • A deeper knowledge of skeletal anatomy
  • The respiratory system in context of breathing practices
  • Asana application for “real” bodies
  • Common injuries, their causes and remedies
  • Asana practices which emphasize stability and fluidity in the body

This class is designed for those wishing to increase endurance and strength. The emphasis is on moving with the breath, creating a flow – or vinyasa – sequence. Modifications are given throughout the class, as well as opportunity to increase the intensity. A great introduction to vinyasa!
