WHO WE ARE

The Canebrake is the vision of the Bracken family whose wish is to preserve the family property while providing a respite for local, regional and national groups as well as the individual. Hailing from Okmulgee, Barth Bracken and his wife Linda raised their family in Oklahoma City, spending summers and holidays on Ft. Gibson Lake for over 35 years, finally making the Wagoner area their permanent home for the last 20 years. Together with their children, Barth and Linda have now begun a new adventure in fine hospitality for 'Green Country' Oklahoma

What's a Canebrake, you ask? Now a rarity due to development and agriculture, Arundinaria Gigantea was once prolific in this region of the country; eastern Oklahoma and Texas, western Arkansas and Louisiana. A species of bamboo that is native to the US, the reed of the bamboo was used by Native Americans for making baskets, blowguns and flutes. A canebrake also acted as a filtering system for water; on the downstream-side of the canebrake, the water was calm, clear and clean: much the way you will feel after your stay with us.
