Oklahoma Today did an incredible 8-page feature that really nailed what we’re all about:
From OETA: a report on a business exchange program:
Another great feature from OklaVision.tv – this one focuses on the kitchen. Caution: may make you hungry.

Wife, mommy, natural health enthusiast, educator and blogger. Food writer and Director of Real Food Tulsa came for a stay at The Canebrake and did a fantastic job of capturing a wonderful glimpse of her stay.
From her blog:
“Gordon and I had the pleasure of stealing away for 24 hours to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We drove 45 minutes south east of Tulsa to The Canebrake. I am not exaggerating when I tell you, it was the very best place EVER!! Everything about this pastoral, eco-friendly hideaway made for a very memorable time for us. The ONLY downside was that we couldn’t stay longer.

There was an audible snap followed by a communal laugh when our instructo, Lisa Bracken, queried the nine of us, “Is it possible to relax your toes?”

Mown hay meets upscale chic in Wagoner
A canopy of trees over the entrance road and the aroma of new-mown hay greeted us as we made our way for dinner at the Canebrake, an upscale, multifunctional facility located on ranch land four miles east of Wagoner.
Canebrake is a resort with lodging facilities, a restaurant, yoga classes, a ropes course, an Olympicsize indoor sand volleyball court and a panorama of ponds and tree-lined rolling meadows that in winter yield views of Fort Gibson Lake.

An Eco-Resort… Okie Style
Sam Bracken’s official title is co-owner
and executive chef, but his wife calls him
the family’s “Visionary CEO.”
“Sam likes to say that he dragged us all
into this,” says Lisa Bracken, “but I just feel like we
are along for a crazy, wild ride.”
The family’s ride began several years ago when
Sam’s parents, Lake Region Electric members Barth
and Linda Bracken, told the family that they wanted
to find something better to do with 380 acres of
property they owned next to the shores of beautiful
Ft. Gibson Lake near Wagoner. And by “better” they
didn’t just mean more productiveóthey wanted to
make sure the land stayed in their family, and they
wanted to be better stewards of the environment.[more...]

The Canebrake in Wagoner
If nothing else, the Canebrake’s
Sunday brunch is worth
the drive. Everything is made
from scratch, down to the jams
and jelliesóthink homemade
sausage, made-to-order omelettes,
pastries, smoked salmon,
brisket and Belgian waffes
with blueberry mascarpone.
The Canebrake also features
live music on the patio every
Wednesday night.

When the Bracken family decided to develop 190 acres and open it to the public, they knew what they didn’t want to be ó no dude ranch, no Disneyland.
Instead, the Brackens chose to be somewhat of a “worlds of fun” for adults, a place to relax in topnotch accommodations, rejuvenate at The Yoga Barn,
walk or bike on the spectacular grounds, fish in one of the numerous ponds and dine on the best in gourmet cuisine.

Canebrake Offers Corporate Retreats
The Canebrake, a restaurant and resort for corporate retreats,
conferences and weekend getaways, will hold an open house

Visitors can tour rooms and suites, sample items from the
dining menu and visit the yoga barns. They can also tour facilities
for meetings, including a conference center with rooms for
groups of 75 and 25 people; and participate in activities on the
challenge course, which features a 50-foot adventure center and 300-foot-long zip wire.

The Canebrake is out of this world.
As we rounded the corner to enter the drive, a carpet of
thick green, perfectly manicured grass edged the road.
Leafy trees rose up against the dramatic Oklahoma sky,
part dark gray storm clouds, part blindingly white puffs,
with a break of cerulean blue. It was breathtakingly beautiful
– and the natural grasses that remained swayed gently
on the slopes of the hills around us, dancing in the evening
cool.

The drive to Wagoner through the rolling
hills of eastern Oklahoma is beautiful. And
long. But, turning off the main road and
dipping under a canopy of trees lining the
narrow road to The Canebrake, you realize
the drive is worth it.
Touring the property with Adam
Miller, marketing director at The
Canebrake, itís obvious that the Bracken
family took every detail into account when
designing this fabulous restaurant and
retreat, featuring a new activity barn with
spa facilities and an adult-sized sandbox
for games. A landscaped path leads from
the main building to the cabins, which feel
a world away, hidden in a grove of trees
and flowers.

Canebrake Provides Numerous Ventures for Getaway
About 20 miles west of Tahlequah is a place that
does not seem to fit the mold. With exceptional dinning,
a yoga barn, a challenge course and eco friendly
cottages, it is not any wonder that The Canebrake has
been receiving rave reviews.
The Canebrake is located near Wagoner and is
owned by the Bracken family.
The idea of making The Canebrake a “green” facility
is something that the Bracken family wanted to do
from the very start.

Restaurant builds on resort’s success
A year ago, the south end of the horse barn on the Neosho River Ranch east of Wagoner was taking on the look of a restaurant and plans for turning a portion of the ranch into a resort were mostly on paper.
The restaurant opened last weekend, with very little resemblance to the horse barn it used to be.
It is elegant. And natural
